Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in Young Adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

Gideon Koren, Shai Efrati, Ornie Sachs

Preliminary results suggest that hyperbaric oxygen therapy can improve cognition and behaviors in children with Fetal Aocohol Spectrum Disorder.

After a single American case of an adolescent in 2005 and a similar adolescent case in Israel, two cases of young adults in Israel haves documented dramatic improvement in neurocognitive and behavioral tests, and parents’ reports, paralleled by marked improvement in brain perfusion, documented by brain single proton emission computed tomographic brain imaging (SPECT).
